M18 Claymore Mine

This is a Claymore Mine Asset that i modeled for a small UE4 Project i was working on. My model was created with the inspiration from The US Army and they're version of the Mine.

 

How was it made?

The Claymore was created using Maya 2017 and Substance painter 2.

 

The development of the Claymore took around 9 hours (with breaks) The Unwrapping took another 4 hours. This model has only one UV Map because the shape of the Claymore is similar to a cube so the UV shells are easy to unwrap and fit into one map with plenty of space left over.

 

Texturing

When the Asset was completely unwrapped and i was happy, i moved on to substance painter 2 to start texturing my model. The texture size on the model is 2k and this is because the unwrap is good. Plus it gives the model a huge realistic effect and that was my goal. The textures on the Mine are made up of several different maps, and they are the Normal Map, Ambient Occlusion, Roughness and Metallic.
